Coaching is...

Coaching is a structured and confidential conversation.  Because it's structured it means that the coach has been taught how to make the most of a one (or sometimes two) hour conversation.  The structure comes from the coach in as much as he/she will ask what their client would like to discuss and what they'd like to get out of the session.  This ensures that their time together is productive, structured and focused. 

All coaches respect their client's confidentiality (even if coach and coachee work together for the same organisation) and practice a code of ethics which ensures the client receives maximum benefit and respect. 

When used in business, clients will often want to talk through everything from office politics, stress, negativity, productivity issues, self development and crisis management right through to strategy and career structure/promotion.  Coaches have been brought into workplaces and offices the world over for decades.  It's still on the increase as savvy employers see the benefits of giving their staff someone impartial to talk to and a structured path of self development to follow.

When used personally, client issues vary significantly.  Coaches tend to niche and concentrate on just one area of life.  A coaches niche will be entirely specific to their expertise and can include retirement coaching, coaching for women/men, coaching mums/dads, the over 50's, those in mid-life, stress, crisis, happiness, health or weight management coaching...this list is endless and so are the benefits.

Clients gain clarity, understanding, structure, action plans, confidence in their ability and much more from working with their coach.
